Location: Caldicot, South Wales
Pay Rate: £89.38 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: October 2025 for the full Academic Year


About the Role

We’re looking for a full-time Youth Support Worker to join a dynamic secondary school environment and make a real difference in the lives of students aged 11–18.

In this role, you’ll work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to help create a calm, inclusive, and positive atmosphere where students feel safe, supported, and motivated. You’ll be a consistent and encouraging presence, helping young people build confidence, develop positive behaviours, and overcome barriers to learning.

Every day will be different, from offering guidance in the classroom to supporting students during break times or one-to-one sessions. You’ll build strong relationships and act as a role model, helping learners grow socially, emotionally, and academically.

Who We’re Looking for?

We welcome applicants who can bring:

  • The ability to stay calm, kind, and approachable in challenging situations
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • An understanding of the emotional and social needs of young people
  • The ability to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) or behavioural needs
  • Relevant experience in youth work, care, mentoring, coaching, or similar roles (desirable but not essential)
  • Truly cares about helping children succeed, both emotionally and academically

Requirements

Teaching Personnel can provide guidance to help you obtain:

  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • At least two professional references within the past two years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
