Location: East Grinstead, West Sussex
Contract: Permanent or Fixed Term (subject to discussion)
Working Pattern: Full-time, Term Time

A forward-thinking primary school in East Grinstead is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Year 6 Teacher to join its dedicated team. Role Overview

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the National Curriculum requirements for Year 6 across core subjects and wider curriculum areas.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies and resources to support all learners, including differentiation and targeted interventions.
  • Prepare pupils effectively for end-of-Key Stage 2 assessments while maintaining a balanced and enjoyable learning experience.
  • Promote positive behaviour and a respectful classroom atmosphere that encourages resilience, ambition, and self-motivation.
  • Assess pupil progress regularly and use data to inform teaching, track attainment, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues to support academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and nurtures each pupil’s potential.

Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with proven experience teaching Key Stage 2, ideally in Year 6.
  • A strong understanding of upper Key Stage 2 learning, including the academic and emotional needs of pupils aged 10–11.
  • Skill in motivating and challenging learners to meet high expectations while ensuring progress for all.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational abilities.
  • Committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and teamwork within the school community.
  • A reflective practitioner dedicated to continuous professional growth and pupil success.
