Year 5 Teacher needed in a RC Primary School in Rochdale

The pupils at the school come from a range of backgrounds, with some experiencing significant disadvantage and the majority of pupils are White British. The proportion from minority ethnic heritages has increased significantly over the past five years and is now broadly average. Pupils who speak English as an additional language come from 12 different countries, and a small number are refugees or asylum seekers. Broadly average numbers of pupils are eligible to receive free school meals. The proportion that has learning difficulties and/or disabilities is slightly below average but there are big variations between year groups. Children join the EYFS with a wide range of pre-school experience. Since 2004, the school has played the lead role in the Rochdale RC Federation of Schools. It holds many awards including the I CAN Early Talk Accreditation, Healthy Schools, Eco-Schools Silver, and Basic Skills Quality Mark. It has Extended School status and runs a before- and after-school club.

Due to a much earlier than expected maternity leave, this school are looking for a well prepared and experienced year 5 teacher to build on the impressive start the class have already had to the new academic year.

  • Salary (£22,023 - £37,496)

The school is currently 2 form entry with the Headteacher encouraging joint planning. The successful year 5 teacher will be given adequate timetabled PPA time to plan alongside their parallel teacher and have the use of a skilled teaching assistant in class that currently takes a lead in maths and literacy intervention groups.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
