Year 5 Class Teacher, Islington(Highbury & Islington Station)

A small and friendly Church of England school close to Upper Street in Islington are looking for a full time Year 5 Class Teacher to join their team in September 2019. This is a diverse one form entry school with dedicated staff who share high standards for teaching and learning. The school is a 4 minute walk to Essex Road station (Great Northern Line) and 20 minute walks to Highbury & Islington Station (Great Northern, Overground and Victoria lines).

This school is in the top 1% nationally for results in reading, writing and maths and the top school in Islington for the percentage of children who have achieved the expected standard in reading, writing and maths. The school's most recent Ofsted inspection in September 2017 rated the school 'Good' and highlighted that the children in this school make good progress, particularly in Key Stage 2.

Worship is regularly evaluated which is taken into account to shape future planning and lead to improvement. The school achieves this through Reflection areas in every class, a dedicated Worship area in the hall, a communal prayer station in the Courtyard and a Spiritual garden in the centre of our playground.

Role: KS2 Class Teacher (Year 5)

Pay: Main scale pay

The successful candidate would display the following:

  • Experience and knowledge of working with children with a wide range of abilities
  • A general understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum
  • An interest, motivation and passion for working with special needs children and developing skills to facilitate this
  • Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
