Year 1 Teaching Assistant

Nelson Primary School (Two- form entry)

  • Level 2 or above qualification
  • Degree desirable
  • Competitive salary GBP10-GBP12.50 per hour
  • The position is part-time, 3 days a week.
  • Starting December 2020
  • Contract Type: Temporary with the potential for a school contract following a successful period of probation.

A ‘Good’ Primary School located in Nelson are looking to appoint an experienced year 1 Teaching Assistant to join their team on a part time basis (3 days a week) from Decemeber 2020. 

Due to the current situation, children have experienced an extended period of absence from school. For some children, this has meant little to no structure, challenging living conditions and limited social interaction with family and friends. The school are therefor looking to appoint a part-time Teaching Assistant to provide additional support to teh pupils, there is the posibility for the role to be made full-time for the right candidate. The successful candidate must possess excellent behavioural and classroom management skills as well as providing a sense of enthusiasm to everyday learning and demonstrating the ability to build positive and trusting relationships with the students.

The headteacher, is keen to support the pupils with their challenging transition back to school as much as possible. This will include working with children who require nurture support on a 1:1 and small group basis to provide both emotional and educational support in topics such as numeracy, literacy and phonics. The candidate will work as part of an experienced team alongside an approachable and supportive teacher but she be experienced in working with Primary School aged pupils, be confident in the role, adn be ready to hit the ground running.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
