Welsh Speaking Teaching Assistants – Cardiff Area
Location: Cardiff and surrounding areas
Teaching Personnel is currently looking for proactive, passionate, and reliable Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistants to work across a range of Welsh-medium primary schools in Cardiff.
Welsh-speaking education staff are in high demand, and we have a variety of opportunities available—from flexible day-to-day supply work to long-term placements. Whether you're an experienced classroom assistant or looking to take your first steps into education, we want to hear from you.
What We’re Looking For:
- Fluent Welsh speakers who are enthusiastic about supporting children's learning and development.
- Ideally, experience working with children (e.g., in schools, nurseries, coaching, youth work), but this is not essential.
- We can register applicants as Trainee Teaching Assistants if we can reference transferable experience working in team environments or with children outside of formal education.
Desirable Qualifications:
We welcome applications from individuals with any of the following:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning
- CACHE Level 3 in Childcare & Education
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
- BTEC National Certificate in Childhood Studies
- Or equivalent childcare/education qualifications
We also consider unqualified but experienced Learning Support Assistants or candidates with relevant experience supporting pupils in primary or secondary school settings.
Opportunities in Additional Learning Needs (ALN):
A significant number of our roles are within ALN settings, supporting pupils with:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Dyslexia, Dyspraxia
- Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
- Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
- Physical Disabilities
- Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
Role Responsibilities:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils’ educational and social development under the direction of class teachers, ALNCOs, and senior staff.
- Help implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Provide 1:1 or group support to enable full engagement in class activities.
- Assist in maintaining pupil records.
- Encourage positive behaviour and support pupils with emotional or behavioural challenges.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
