Position: Learning Support Assistant (Maternity Cover)

Year group: Year 1 and 1:1 in Y4

Pay: GBP10 per hour including National Insurance, Pension and Holiday Pay.

Start Date: September 1 2020

End Date: Easter 2021 (There is a possibility for the position to be extended depending on budgets and opportunities made available)

Interview/Observation Trial: Video Interview will be held – To be confirmed

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a client school in Torfaen who are looking for a fluent welsh speaking Learning Support Assistant to work in a fluent welsh medium Primary School in September. The position is to start on the 1st of September 2020.

The school in question will be looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual who would be able to support two pupils in Key Stage 2 with Additional Learning Needs, providing individual / small group support. Your responsibilities will include helping the pupils focus on the task in hand and support through programmes given by the Occupational Therapist.

The successful candidate will also spend time assisting in a year 1 class.

Previous experience working in the education or care sector will be desirable and previous experience working with an individual/s with autism and other Additional Learning Needs will also be advantageous.

 

Essential for this role:

-The ability to communciate effectively and confidently through the medium of welsh.

-A CHILD ONLY Enhanced DBS (We can help you obtain this if you haven’t already got one).

-You will need to be registered with the Education Workforce Council as a Support Learning Worker. Education Workforce Council (EWC) is the independent regulator in Wales for Teachers, Further Education Teachers and learning support staff. Registration with the EWC is a legal requirement for anyone who works in a Welsh School.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
