Vocational Support

We are looking for support workers to help train young adults whilst they study vocational courses and key subjects in preparation to graduate to college.

We work with a number of education provisions in the greater Manchester area, including Pupil Referral Units, which provide an alternative education for children currently outside of mainstream education.

Young adults may attend a pupil referral unit as it better fits their SEMH needs, as many of the children may have challenging behaviours, mental health issues or social needs. By offering them an alternative education, working in smaller less pressurised groups, the children have a better opportunity to engage and focus on their education and overcome their needs.

Support workers must help the students to focus and understand their vocational courses, steering them away from bad behaviours and helping them to focus their attention on building opportunity towards their futures.

Candidates with experience in sports coaching, health and social care, child care and hospitality management would be ideal to share experience and knowledge with the students.
Due to the nature of the children's behaviours, candidates should be prepared to handle different situations and be able to calm and de-escalate situations which are getting out of hand. Training in Team-Teach would be essential, however Teaching Personnel can offer this and other courses.
Any counselling or mentoring training would also be preferable to help advise students appropriately towards their best interests.
