Job description

Trainee / Unqualified Teaching Assistant

Chorley and surrounding areas

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our partner primary schools in Chorley as Trainee or Unqualified Teaching Assistants. This is an ideal opportunity for those looking to gain valuable classroom experience and begin a rewarding career in education – especially if you have relevant experience working with children or young people in any setting.


Role Overview:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons

  • Work with small groups or 1:1 with pupils needing additional support

  • Help maintain a positive, safe and stimulating learning environment

  • Assist with classroom routines and pupil well-being

  • Encourage the development of pupils’ social skills, confidence, and independence


We are looking for someone who:

✅ Has experience working or volunteering with children or young people (e.g., in schools, nurseries, youth work, tutoring, sports coaching, Scouts/Guides etc.)
✅ Is passionate about helping children learn and succeed
✅ Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a proactive approach
✅ Is inclusive in their approach and committed to supporting pupils of all backgrounds and abilities
✅ Is motivated, reliable, and committed to regular communication throughout the recruitment process
✅ Is eager to learn and grow within an education setting
✅ May be considering a future in teaching or support work

Hours: Part-time (with opportunities for full-time roles depending on school needs)
Contract: Temporary with potential for long-term or permanent positions
Start Date: September 2025 or earlier by negotiation


No formal qualifications are required – just the right experience, inclusive attitude, and energy to support pupils in their learning journey.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
