Unqualified Secondary Behaviour Support Assistant – Full-Time | Tonypandy (CF40)
Daily Pay: £89.38 (£13.75 per hour)

A secondary school in Tonypandy is looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant (also known as a Behaviour Mentor or Behaviour Officer) to work closely with students who need extra help with emotional regulation, behaviour, and re-engaging with school life.
No formal qualifications are required – if you have transferable skills, strong people skills, and a genuine interest in helping young people succeed, this role could be perfect for you.

Your Role:
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you’ll be a key part of the school’s pastoral and behaviour support team. You will:

Support students 1:1 or in small groups with behaviour, motivation, and emotional regulation

De-escalate challenging situations calmly and professionally
-
Deliver positive behaviour interventions and act as a mentor
-
Record and monitor behaviour incidents, supporting behaviour support plans
-
Encourage students to re-engage with learning and routines
Who We’re Looking For:
We’d love to hear from people who:

Have strong communication and de-escalation skills
-
Remain calm, confident, and approachable under pressure
-
Understand the challenges young people face in education
-
Have experience in youth work, residential care, sports coaching, or similar roles
-
Are passionate about helping young people grow both emotionally and academically
(Previous school experience is welcome but not essential – transferable skills are highly valued.)
Requirements:
To work in this role, you’ll need (or be willing to obtain):

EWC registration (School Learning Support Worker category)

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service

Two professional references
