Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistants to work in a secondary school across Newport and the surrounding areas from September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who want to gain experience in education while making a meaningful impact on the lives of young people. No formal teaching qualification is required. Just the right attitude, resilience, and a genuine desire to support students.
⭐ About the Role
As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who may require additional support with behaviour, engagement, confidence, emotional wellbeing, or learning.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Helping pupils remain engaged and focused during lessons
- Building positive relationships with young people
- Encouraging confidence, resilience, and positive behaviour
- Supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH)
- Assisting teachers in creating a calm and productive learning environment

To be considered, you will need:
- To be aged 18 or over
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- EWC Registration (or willingness to register)
- Two professional references covering the last 24 months
- A willingness to complete safeguarding training through Teaching Personnel

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
