1:1 Tutor – Peterborough Area

Location: Peterborough and surrounding areas
Hours: School hours (typically 9:00am – 3:30pm)
Contract Type: Flexible, Part-Time and Full-Time Opportunities Available

About the Role

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced 1:1 Tutors to support pupils across Peterborough and the surrounding areas. This role involves delivering personalised tuition to children and young people in home, school, and community settings.

You will work with pupils who require additional educational support due to SEND, SEMH needs, medical conditions, school avoidance, exclusion, or other barriers to learning. The successful candidate will be committed to helping learners build confidence, develop key skills, and achieve positive educational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective one-to-one tuition sessions.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs and targets.
  • Support pupils in core subjects, including English, Maths, and Science.
  • Create a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, maintaining accurate records.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, families, schools, and professionals.
  • Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence.
  • Adhere to safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, or additional learning needs is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Access to reliable transport and willingness to travel within Peterborough and surrounding areas.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working within alternative provision settings.
  • SEN training or relevant specialist qualifications.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
