1:1 Learning Support Assistant

Location: Rugby

Salary: £90-130 per day

Start Date: 01/09/2026

At Teaching Personnel, we are working on behalf of a busy, community led mainstream Primary school to appoint a proactive and talented Learning Support Assistant.

The successful candidate will provide tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with complex SEND, helping them to access the curriculum, fully achieve their potential and participate in school life.

Working closely with the class teacher, SENDCO and external professionals will be imperative in supporting the pupil’s academic, social, emotional and behavioural development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a designated pupil throughout the school day
  • Assist with the implementation of individual learning plans and targeted interventions
  • Support the pupil's engagement, independence, and participation in classroom activities
  • Adapt learning activities and resources as directed by the class teacher
  • Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Foster positive relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies where appropriate

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience of supporting children in a primary school setting
  • An understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, flexible, and nurturing approach
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and families
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
