Teaching Personnel is the UK’s leading education recruitment agency. We are currently seeking a Tutor to work on a 1:1 basis with Special Educational Needs (SEN) children in the Bournemouth area. You may be asigned to one child on a long term basis or you may be required to work with a handful of students from all different SEN backgrounds. The children may have learning difficulties, physical disabilities, Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) conditions and associated behavioural difficulties. 

You will mainly be working within schools however, you may sometimes be required to take the children offsite to an alternative learning area such as a library or a cafe. (You will be required to hold a UK Drivers Licence for these roles)

What does tuition involve?

  • helping with homework
  • helping with class work 
  • catching up on missed work due to school absence 
  • revision and exam preparation

You will be working on a flexible 0 hour contract, meaning you can choose when you work and how much you want to work! 

The successful candidate must:

  • have experience working with people that have Autism or challenging behaviour
  • be confident working on a 1:1 basis with students

It is desireable if you:

  • have experience working as a tutor or teacher
  • have experience working within a school setting
  • be resilient and confident working with challenging behaviour
  • have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs, or a willingness to learn
  • Have the ability to engage pupils in their learning and support them in their social, emotional and personal wellbeing
  • be nurturing and enthusiastic
  • have a UK Drivers Licence
