WHAT: Supporting pupils in year 7 & 8 on a 1:1 basis 

The head and Governors of our client secondary school are looking to recruit a teaching assistant in Monmouthshire who can work full time ASAP until the end of the academic year. Experience as a teaching assistant is desirable but not essential as we will consider any experience working with children or in care role. The school are looking for someone who wants a career in educaiton as there is a thorough training programme available for the suitable teaching assistant. Your personality and attitude is the main factor when choosing the correct candidate for the position. The school are looking for someone who is going to be passionate and engaging with students to promote learning!

Requirements of a teaching assistant:

• Available full time Monday to Friday
• Voluntary, personal or work experience with children in some capacity
• Proactive and engaging personality
• Eager to learn
• Minimum of core GCSE’s is required

The job as a teaching assistant is a vital one in education. It bridges the gap between pupil and teacher. The role consists of working 1:1 and in small groups with children with either challenging behaviour or special educational needs. You will need to build a rapport with the child in order to gain their attention and help them focus on the work, aiding their learning. This is a very rewarding role and is the perfect stepping stone into a career in education.
