Trainee Teaching Assistant
£13.75 - £16 per hour

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Trainee Teaching Assistant in the Tonypandy area. The position is available on a full-time basis and will run for the duration of the next academic year. Our partnership school has expressed that they are looking for someone they can invest in with training and courses with scope to move into a permanent position in the future. This role is available to start in September and therefore interviews are being held over the next 2 weeks.

What does a Trainee Teaching Assistant do?

  • Support students with Additional Learning Needs
  • Assist in management of challenging behaviours
  • Support students learning and understanding of tasks
  • Reading out work to students
  • Take instruction from subject teacher

The successful applicant will be placed within small classes/intervention groups of students in KS3 and KS4 who have a range of additional learning needs such as Autism & ADHD. Our partnership school have outlined that the person they are looking for does not need direct experience working as a Teaching Assistant before or even with children. Applicants with a background in care or support work, sports coaches who have worked with children previously are examples of some careers that carry many transferable skills over to this role and highly desirable.

What is required to be a Trainee Teaching Assistant?

  • No formal educational qualifications are required
  • 5 GCSEs minimum desired
  • Enhanced DBS available on the update service
  • Registered with the EWC
  • Passion for education
  • Patient and caring nature
