Trainee Teaching Assistant
Primary School – Everton (L3)
Start Date: September 2025

A larger-than-average primary school located in Everton (L3) is looking to appoint a Trainee Teaching Assistant to join one of their Key Stage 2 (KS2) classrooms from September 2025.

Over the past two years, the school has successfully welcomed three trainee teaching assistants, all of whom were either working towards or had recently completed a TA qualification. Due to the positive outcomes of these placements, the Headteacher has once again partnered with Teaching Personnel to support their recruitment needs.


What will the role involve?

As a Trainee Teaching Assistant in KS2, you will:

  • Support the class teacher in preparing for lessons and ensuring the classroom is a safe, engaging, and inclusive space for all pupils.
  • Work directly with pupils during lessons, helping them stay on task, understand instructions, and engage with learning activities.
  • Provide support across the curriculum – particularly in core subjects such as English, maths, and science.
  • Help promote pupil independence, positive behaviour, and academic progress.
  • Assist in managing classroom behaviour and supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Communicate effectively with both pupils and staff, displaying enthusiasm, patience, and a proactive attitude.

Role Summary & Expectations

  • Provide support to pupils, ensuring their safety and full access to learning.
  • Encourage and promote independent learning where appropriate.
  • Assist with classroom preparation before and after lessons.
  • Support the teacher with behaviour management and report any concerns.
  • Help pupils understand lesson objectives and instructions.
  • Deliver academic support in line with the teacher’s guidance (e.g. in English, maths, and other subjects).
  • Supervise pupils during lunch and break times.
  • Adhere to all relevant policies and procedures, including those related to safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection. Any concerns should be reported to the appropriate member of staff.

Key Details

  • Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (includes a 30-minute welfare duty)
  • Eligibility: Open to individuals currently studying towards a TA, CACHE, or Childcare qualification
  • Pay Rate: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
