A caring and inclusive school in the Vale of Glamorgan is seeking a committed and compassionate ALN Support Worker to join our Team Around the Child (TAC) provision. This role is key in supporting learners with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and ensuring a coordinated, holistic approach to their development and well-being.
Working closely with the school’s ALNCo, class teachers, external agencies, and families, you’ll be part of a collaborative effort to give every child the support they need to thrive—socially, emotionally, and academically.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct, targeted support to pupils with ALN on a 1:1 or small group basis.

Help implement and monitor Individual Development Plans (IDPs) in line with the ALN Code for Wales.

Liaise with professionals such as educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and family support workers.

Support inclusive classroom practice and differentiated teaching strategies.

Contribute to multi-agency reviews and team meetings around the child.

Build trusting, positive relationships with pupils and their families.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
-
Experience supporting children with additional learning needs in an educational, personal or care setting.

A sound understanding of the ALN Code for Wales and person-centred planning.
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A flexible, patient, and empathetic approach.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 3, HLTA status, or equivalent) is desirable, but not essential.

An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
