Teaching Personnel is the UK’s leading education recruitment agency. We are currently seeking an SEN teaching assistant to work at one of our local school’s in Somerset. The school works with children with medical needs in Primary and Secondary education. The school has six different sites in and around the Yeovil area. Each site caters for a different need i.e. Secondary Medical and Mental health, KS4 behaviour, Middle school behaviour.
What the role involves:
- working within the class to support the class teacher with their lessons
- working alongside a team of support staff in class
- working on a 1:1 basis with students
This is a full time role, starting immediately. It is a temporary position but there is the opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate.
To be successful in this role it is desirable if you:
- have experience working within a school setting
- have experience working with children and/or adults with learning difficulties
- be resilient and confident working with challenging behaviour
- have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs, or a willingness to learn
- Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant in a special needs school
- Have the ability to engage pupils in their learning and support them in their social, emotional and personal wellbeing
- be nurturing and enthusiastic
- have experience in delivering outdoor education/experience within the sports industry
The successful candidate must:
- be able to deliver outdoor education and on-site work
- have the ability to manage challenging behaviour
