If so a role as a Teaching assistant in special education needs school could be for you. Special educational needs schools support children who find it harder to learn than most children of the same age. Because of this, the classes are smaller than a mainstream setting, and the amount of staff around to support is often more.

We are looking for Teaching Assistants to work full-time at a growing and flourishing school in Maidenhead. The school currently caters for 62 pupils but is due an expansion over the next year or two, and will then cater for 96 pupils. The students are aged 4 - 16 years all with a primary diagnosis of Autism. The school provide very insightful and informative training to support all staff throughout their journey, so they are looking for candidates who have a can-do attitude, a desire and willingness to commit to further training

The role as Teaching Assistant:

• Supporting the children in their play, learning, social activities and on outings.
• Encouraging children's confidence, self esteem and independence
• Helping children understand instructions
• Supporting creative and craft activities, such as painting, drawing and sensory play as well as more structured lesson plans.
• Providing feedback and assistance to teachers.

The role as a teaching assistant is rewarding and varied, each day is a different challenge.

This role is full term time and between the hours of 8:30 and 4:30.
