Teaching Assistant - Southgate

A special needs school in Southgate are currently seeking a teaching assistant who has experience supporting students across KS1 and KS2 with autism. The special needs school in Southgate cater to students with a mixture of special needs such as autism, down syndrome and some with SEMH.

As a teaching assistant you will be providing additional 1:1 support for students with autism and assisting classroom teachers with group activities; you will need to provide a positive learning environment that both encourages the students to take part but also help raise their self-esteem. The school have recently renovated to their facilities to include a state of the art sensory room and also a sensory garden.

Teaching assistant attributes:

  • Previous experience supporting KS1 to KS2 students with autism
  • Provided 1:1 support for students with special educational needs
  • Understanding of PECS and Makaton techniques
  • Passion for supporting students with special educational needs
  • Additional training such as Team Teach, Autism Awareness, Safeguarding will be beneficial
