Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Somerset, UK
Salary: £13.75 an hour

 

About the Role:
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs and disabilities? Schools across Somerset are seeking enthusiastic and caring SEND Teaching Assistants to join their teams. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Assist teachers in delivering inclusive and engaging lessons.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Help pupils develop independence and confidence in their learning.
  • Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals as needed.

 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, in or out of an educational setting.
  • A nurturing, patient and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to learn.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
