Teaching Assistant: SEN Support (Full-Time)
Location: Ystrad Mynach
Salary: £89.38 per day
Contract Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Start date: January 2026
Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to work with several classes throughout a local SEN provision. This is a full-time role, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people requiring additional behavioural and emotional support.
About the Role:
This role, known as a ‘floating position,’ involves working across the entire school. You will support students aged 3 to 19 with varying abilities, so flexibility and patience are essential qualities for success in this role. The school also provides support for children in off-site base classes at local mainstream schools, so the ability to travel between locations is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate behaviour appropriately
- Assist in delivering structured and tailored learning under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO
- Encourage the pupil’s engagement, confidence, and emotional development
- Maintain clear communication with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals as required
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment
Candidate Requirements:
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and compassionate approach to support.
- Be able to move between age groups and abilities with ease.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply through Teaching Personnel)
- Right to work in the UK.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
