Job description

We are currently supporting a specialist primary school in the Rochdale area to recruit a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to begin as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established, child-centred setting that provides education for children aged 3 to 11 with a wide range of special educational needs.

The school is co-located with a mainstream primary, creating valuable opportunities for inclusion and collaborative learning where appropriate. The team prides itself on delivering flexible, individualised learning within a warm, inclusive, and well-supported environment.

The Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Work closely with class teachers and therapists to support children with a range of additional needs, including complex learning needs, communication difficulties, and physical or sensory impairments

  • Deliver targeted interventions to help pupils overcome barriers to learning

  • Assist with personalised learning plans and differentiated activities

  • Support pupils both in the classroom and in shared learning spaces, promoting independence and social skills

  • Foster a nurturing, safe, and inclusive learning environment in line with each pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN in a school, nursery, or care setting

  • A positive, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting individual needs

  • Availability to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm

Desirable:

  • Experience working with pupils aged 3–11 with complex or multiple needs

  • Knowledge of personalised or differentiated teaching approaches

  • Familiarity with EHCPs or intervention planning

Additional Information:

  • This is a full-time, term-time only position (no part-time roles available)

  • Applicants must be based in the UK and available for immediate start

  • This role is subject to an enhanced DBS, safeguarding checks, and references from the last two years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
