Teaching Assistant required for January roles

We have a vacancy for a Teaching Assistant to support students in a mainstram Primary School. Some pupils in the classroom may have a range of special educational needs including young people with Autism, physical disabilities or who find learning challenging for a variety of reasons, within a mainstream setting. We would like to encourage people who may be considering a career in teaching.We would also welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience.

You will work with the students in a variety of ways, supporting them in mainstream classrooms, in withdrawal situations and during unstructured time - breaks and lunchtimes. The successful candidate will need to be flexible and able to adapt to work with students with a range of special educational needs throughout the school.

An understanding of the range of special educational needs that face young people is essential. Experience of working with young people with additional needs is desirable and a willingness to undertake specific training will be required including manual handling. A good induction programme is in place and you will join a large existing team of dedicated professionals.

The School is located in North Leeds and is accessible by public transport.
