Pupil Referral Unit Teaching Assistant
A new vacancy has opened at a SEMH provision, specifically looking for a skilled Learning Assistant with an excellent understanding of the social, emotional, and behavioural development of children and young individuals. The setting is a Pupil Referral Unit for 11-18 year olds who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education.
The role:
- Work 1-1 and in small groups with students to assist in the delivery of lessons for students with social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the social and emotional well-being of students.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to address challenging behaviours and support students in developing coping mechanisms.
- Act as a mentor and role model for SEMH students, promoting positive relationships and self-esteem.
- Support students in developing social skills, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation.
- Work closely with external agencies, such as psychologists or counsellors, to provide comprehensive support for students.
