Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Behaviour & Resilience Mentor for a specialist secondary setting in the Trafford area, supporting students aged 11-16 with a range of SEMH needs, including ASC, ADHD, anxiety, attachment difficulties, trauma-related behaviours, emotional regulation needs, low self-esteem, and challenging behaviour.

The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for pupils who have struggled in mainstream education, with a strong focus on wellbeing, personal development, and positive relationships. The Role

As a Behaviour & Resilience Mentor, you will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support students both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
• Implement behaviour support strategies and intervention plans
• Support students during lessons to encourage engagement and achievement
• Help pupils develop emotional regulation and social skills
• Manage challenging behaviour using positive and restorative approaches
• Promote attendance, wellbeing, and personal development
• Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• A calm, resilient, and patient approach
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
• A genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
• Experience in education, youth work, care, coaching, support work, or similar settings
• Team Teach training is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
