Teaching Personnel are recruiting a Youth Intervention Support Worker for a specialist secondary provision in Salford. This rewarding role involves supporting students aged 11-16 with SEMH needs, ASC, ADHD, trauma, anxiety, attachment difficulties, and behavioural challenges that may impact their education.

The Role
As a Youth Intervention Support Worker, you will work closely with students both inside and outside the classroom, helping them to engage positively with education, manage emotions effectively, and develop the skills needed to succeed academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH and additional needs.
- Acting as a positive role model and mentor for young people.
- Building strong, professional relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and attendance.
- Supporting students with behaviour regulation and emotional wellbeing.
- Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
- Implementing behaviour support strategies and individual support plans.
- Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours using positive interventions.
- Encouraging the development of social, communication, and life skills.
- Supporting students during breaktimes, enrichment activities, and educational visits.
- Recording progress, behaviour incidents, and safeguarding concerns where appropriate.
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural, or social needs.
- Backgrounds in youth work, mentoring, coaching, residential care, education, support work, social care, or similar sectors are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A resilient, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches is advantageous.
- A willingness to be proactive and adaptable in supporting students.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Right to work in the UK.
