Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are looking for an enthusiastic person to join a Good graded Primary School in North Leeds near Otley from November 2020 or sooner if available. If you feel you have the skills to encourage, nurture and support children aged 5-11 to achieve their full potential and continue their enjoyment of school, we welcome your application.

Due to the current circumstances, children have experienced a large period of absence from school. For some children, this has meant little to no structure, continuously poor living conditions and limited social interaction with family and friends. Accordingly, returning to school and to the rules, routines and structure of a school day have been a struggle for some pupils. We carried out a Headteachers forum to discuss how the first couple of weeks back in school had been with a consistent concern across primary schools being that children have forgotten how to play and interact with one another.

With this in mind, the school aim to support their pupils with their transition back to school as much as possible. This will include working with children who require nurture support in the lead up to Christmas. 

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience in the follow backgrounds:

• Social care

• Support work

• Youth work

• SEN support

• Fostering and involvement with LAC

• Psychology

• Counselling

You will be expected to work with students predominantly on a small group or 1:1 basis as well as work with colleagues to share ideas on best practice. You will have the patients and resilience to support students with wider needs.

Requirements of the role: 

  • At least 6 months experience working with children aged 4-11
  • 2 graded references from within the last 6 years including your most recent employer
  • Advanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one
  • Overseas criminal clearance if applicable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
