Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Year 1

Location: Welwyn Garden City

Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent (Temp-Perm)

Working Hours: Full-Time, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Job Description:

One of our fantastic schools are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our Year 1 team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to our young learners. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supporting Year 1 Students: Assist the class teacher in delivering a stimulating and engaging curriculum to Year 1 students, promoting their academic and personal development.

  2. Small Group and One-on-One Support: Provide targeted support to students, both in small groups and individually, to reinforce learning objectives and help them overcome challenges.

  3. Clear Communication: Demonstrate clear and effective communication skills, ensuring students can understand and engage with instructions and tasks.

  4. Behavioral Support: Help maintain a positive classroom environment by implementing behavior management strategies and reinforcing classroom rules.

  5. Resource Preparation: Assist in the preparation and organization of teaching materials and resources, contributing to a well-structured learning environment.

  6. Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Support the assessment process by observing and recording student progress, contributing to reports and feedback to parents.

  7. Inclusive Practice: Embrace inclusive teaching methods to accommodate students with varying abilities and needs, promoting equal access to education.

  8. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teaching personnel and other support staff to ensure a cohesive and effective educational experience for students.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience working with children, particularly in an educational setting, is preferred.
  • Excellent spoken communication skills, with a clear and articulate voice.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with young learners.
  • A willingness to adapt and take direction from teaching personnel.
  • A basic understanding of teaching and learning methods in early years education is advantageous.
  • A relevant teaching assistant qualification or working towards one is desirable but not mandatory.
