Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are seeking a dedicated KS2 Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:2 basis with two children with autism at a welcoming primary school in the NE38 area of Washington. This role offers the chance to attend a trial day, with the potential to move into a long-term placement if it proves to be the right fit for both the school and candidate.
The role will involve:

Providing 1:2 support for two KS2 pupils with autism, helping them to access learning and daily routines
-
Adapting activities to meet the children’s individual needs and encouraging progress in social and communication skills
-
Working closely with the class teacher and SEN staff to deliver tailored support strategies
-
Promoting independence, positive behaviour, and engagement in the classroom
We are looking for candidates who:
-
Have experience supporting children with autism or additional needs, ideally in a school setting
-
Show patience, empathy and resilience when supporting pupils with varying needs
-
Can work effectively as part of a team and communicate well with staff and families
-
Hold relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) – desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
