Job description

Kickstart Your Career in Education – Trainee Teaching Assistant (Warrington)

Are you eager to start a career where you can make a real difference to young people’s lives? Do you see yourself working in education, youth support, or a related field? If so, this Trainee Teaching Assistant role in one of our Warrington secondary schools could be the perfect first step.

This paid, full-time position begins in September 2025 and is designed for individuals who want to gain first-hand experience of life in the classroom. Whether your long-term goal is to become a teacher, work in SEND, pastoral care, or educational psychology, this role will give you the grounding and skills you need.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils in lessons, both in small groups and one-to-one.

  • Assisting teachers with engaging activities and classroom management.

  • Encouraging students to develop confidence, independence and resilience.

  • Helping prepare lesson resources and contributing to displays.

  • Building strong, positive relationships with staff, students and parents.

  • Taking part in training sessions, shadowing opportunities and CPD workshops.

What we’re looking for:

  • A motivated, approachable individual who enjoys working with young people.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Reliability, punctuality and a willingness to learn new skills.

  • A positive attitude and the confidence to get involved.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Experience working or volunteering with children/young people.

  • An interest in pursuing a career in education.

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
