Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

We are expanding our bank of Special Needs Support Assistants in the central Cornwall area.

We work with a wide range of provisions across the Truro, Newquay, Bodmin and St Austell areas and are regularly contacted with requests to support children with additional needs. We work with Primary, Secondary and Specialist SEN provisions who require Teaching Assistants to work 1:1 or 2:1 with pupils. We are therefore wanting to hear from people with experience in any of the following positions:

  • Previous SEN TA
  • Care Support Worker
  • Case Worker
  • Mental Heath Support Worker
  • Alternative Education worker

If you've worked in any other role that has required you to support additional needs or challenging behaviour, we would love to speak with you. If you do not currently have experience supporting SEN but would like to begin your career within this sector, please still apply as we may be able to match you to roles that are suitable for people with limited experience or provide you with supply work to gain the relevant experience to further your career prospects.

Many of our SEN positions are full-time, but we are open to working with people who are available 2 or more days per week. Most roles of this nature lead to permanent contracts directly with schools, but all will begin on an agency basis. We support many schools with daily supply needs so if you are only seeking work for a shorter period of time (3 months or more) and want flexibility as opposed to a permanent role, we can help!

All positions are paid weekly at a rate of £11.85 minimum per hour or more on a PAYE basis. You will be supported by a team of consultants who will get to know your working requirements and find you the right position to begin or continue your career within special needs support.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
