About the Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, helping them to access learning, develop self-regulation skills, and thrive both in and out of the classroom.

You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies to provide targeted interventions, one-to-one support, and small-group guidance. The role is rewarding, challenging, and ideal for someone who genuinely wants to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH needs

• Assist in the delivery of differentiated lessons and activities

• Foster positive relationships and act as a key adult for identified students

• Help implement behaviour support plans and emotional regulation strategies

• Promote a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or additional needs (desirable but not essential)

• A calm, empathetic, and patient approach

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• An understanding of trauma-informed practice (or a willingness to learn)

• A commitment to safeguarding and the wellbeing of all students
