Teaching Assistant
Location: Poole
Agency: Teaching Personnel
Type: Full-Time / Long-Term
Pay: £96.90 - £114 per day (depending on experience)


About the Role

Main Purpose:
Teaching Personnel is working closely with a supportive and ambitious school in Poole that is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant. You will play a key role in helping pupils succeed both academically and personally by fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference in children’s lives and to be part of a school that values every student’s potential.


Key Objectives

Learning Support

  • Support pupils' learning through targeted interventions and small-group work.

  • Encourage student independence and self-confidence while maintaining high academic standards.

  • Promote inclusive classroom practice by encouraging collaboration among students.

  • Work closely with the SENCO and class teachers to assess needs and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

  • Adapt classroom resources to meet the needs of EAL and SEND students.

  • Support follow-up from external services such as speech and language or occupational therapy.

  • Provide 1:1 mentoring and deliver booster/intervention sessions for targeted learning areas.

  • Record observations and feedback on student progress.

  • Help prepare teaching materials and support classroom displays.

  • Assist with whole-class activities and behaviour management strategies.

  • Support learning beyond the classroom in areas such as libraries or ICT suites.

Support for the School

  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom times including breaks and lunchtimes.

  • Provide general pastoral support to students.

  • Assist with school trips and out-of-school learning experiences, ensuring student safety and wellbeing under teacher supervision.


What We’re Looking For

  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their learning journey.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Flexibility, patience, and a proactive attitude.

  • Previous school-based experience is beneficial but not essential.

  • An enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willingness to apply through Teaching Personnel).

  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
