We are looking to recruit someone who has an in depth and working knowledge of Autism Spectrum Condition and all of its traits, to work within a nurture base of a special educational needs school.
Located with easy access from Manchester City Centre, the Ofsted Outstanding school boasts new state of the art facilities including a specialised provision for students who may be on the Autism Spectrum.
The school are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is familiar with and capable of working alongside young people with Autism Spectrum Condition on a daily basis, providing nurturing and attentive support throughout their school day.
Responsibilities as Teaching Assistant may vary, due to the nature of following an adapted curriculum. You may be required to support with sensory lessons and occupational therapies, however the main purpose of the role is to provide behavioural, emotional and social support to students.
Some of the requirements included in the role are as follows;
- De-escalation
- Moving and Handling
- Personal care
- Communication support (PECS/MAKATON/BSL)
To be successful in your application, you must be able to provide evidence of this as skills and experience.
Please be aware that all applicants will be subject to background checks and will need a current DBS certificate (update service registered).
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately, but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.
The school require on and off support throughout the year depending on student intake and staffing needs, so there is always opportunity for contract extension and permanent roles for staff who are a great asset to the school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
