Teaching Assistant

South Manchester and Stockport | Immediate and September Starts Available

We are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to work across a range of secondary schools in South Manchester and Stockport. These opportunities are ideal for individuals with previous experience in schools or childcare settings who are looking to develop or continue their career in education.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and overall classroom engagement. You’ll work closely with class teachers and wider school staff to provide both academic and pastoral support, helping create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Roles are available in:

  • Mainstream secondary schools across south Manchester and Stockport
  • Full-time, long-term placements

Start dates are available after the Easter holidays, with September roles also being recruited for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils in the classroom with their learning and activities
  • Working with small groups or on a 1:1 basis to provide targeted support
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
  • Helping pupils to stay engaged, focused, and motivated throughout the school day
  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping to manage classroom routines
  • Providing feedback to teachers on pupil progress and wellbeing

Experience & Skills Required

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in:
    • A school setting (Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Support)
    • A nursery, preschool, or childcare environment
    • Experience as a sports coach
  • A genuine interest in education and supporting children’s development
  • Confidence working with pupils of different abilities and needs
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach
  • Reliability, flexibility, and a professional attitude

This role is open to experienced Teaching Assistants and childcare professionals looking to move into or continue working in schools.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
