Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Portland, Dorset
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent/Temporary
Salary: Market Related
Start Date: September 2025

About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is currently looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants for primary schools in Portland, Dorset. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and inclusive environment, helping to ensure that children receive the highest quality education. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support children’s learning, assist with classroom activities, and provide individual or small group support where necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons and supporting pupils with their learning.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support for pupils with varying needs, including SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
  • Help prepare classroom resources and materials.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively to create a positive learning environment.
  • Support with assessments and track pupils' progress.
  • Foster a caring and supportive relationship with pupils to encourage their development and wellbeing.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, ideally in a teaching or educational support role.
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young learners.
  • Enhanced DBS check (Teaching Personnel can assist with this process if necessary).
  • An understanding of safeguarding policies and practices.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
