Job description

Teaching Assistant:

Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Location: Wimborne, Dorset

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Date posted: 29/04/2025

Salary: Market related

About the Role:

Are you passionate about helping children learn and grow? Do you have a natural ability to support others and want to make a real difference in a child’s education? If so, we’d love to hear from you! We’re looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team. In this role, you’ll be supporting our teachers in the classroom and helping to create a fun and inclusive environment where students can thrive.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Assisting Teachers: You’ll work closely with the teacher to prepare lessons, set up activities, and help keep the classroom running smoothly. Whether it’s giving one-on-one support or leading small groups, you’ll play a key role in helping students succeed.
  • Engaging Students: Encouraging students to participate in activities, helping them stay focused, and offering guidance when needed. You’ll be a positive presence in the classroom that motivates students to do their best.
  • Supporting Individual Needs: Whether it’s helping students who need extra attention or working with those who need a little more encouragement, you’ll support their personal learning journeys. You might also assist with special educational needs (SEN) to ensure every child can access the curriculum.
  • Keeping Things Organized: You’ll help prepare teaching materials, set up activities, and keep the classroom tidy and well-organized.
  • Monitoring Progress: You’ll assist in observing and tracking students’ progress, providing the teacher with helpful insights, and offering encouragement to students as they develop.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A Positive Attitude: You’re kind, patient, and eager to support children in their learning. You genuinely enjoy helping others and creating a positive environment.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Whether it’s talking with students, chatting with the teacher, or working with parents, clear communication is key.
  • Team Player: You’ll be working alongside teachers, staff, and students, so being able to collaborate and work as part of a team is super important.
  • Previous Experience: While it’s not a must, if you’ve worked with children in the past (either in a school or other setting), that’s a plus! If not, don’t worry—we’re happy to offer training to the right person.
  • Organized and Flexible: You can manage your time and tasks well, but you're also able to adapt when plans change—no two days are the same in a classroom!
  • Educational Requirements: A minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent) is required. If you have qualifications in education or childcare, that’s a bonus.

What We Offer:

  • A friendly and supportive team of staff who are passionate about making a difference.
  • Opportunities for personal and professional development so you can grow in the role.
  • A fun, dynamic work environment with a strong sense of community.
  • A chance to work with a fantastic group of students who are excited to learn!
