Teaching Assistant – Dorchester & Surrounding Areas
Primary & Middle Schools (Years 5–8) | SEN Friendly | Flexible Travel | Long-Term & Ad-Hoc Roles

Teaching Personnel is partnering with a range of welcoming primary and middle schools across Dorchester, with further opportunities in Wimborne, Weymouth and Bridport. We are seeking enthusiastic and adaptable Teaching Assistants who are confident supporting pupils across KS1, KS2, and Years 5–8.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, is open to working with SEN needs, and is happy to travel to nearby schools. We can offer both longer-term placements and ad hoc cover, depending on what suits you best.

Position Details:

  • Role: Teaching Assistant (General TA & 1:1 opportunities)
  • Locations: Dorchester, Wimborne, Weymouth, Bridport + surrounding villages
  • School Types: Primary and Middle Schools (Years 5–8)
  • Start Date: Immediate and ongoing opportunities
  • Contract: Long-term roles and ad hoc/flexible cover available
  • Pay: Paid weekly via PAYE (rate dependent on experience)

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience supporting children (school-based or transferable experience welcome)
  • Is confident working across KS1, KS2 and middle school year groups (5–8)
  • Is happy working with SEN pupils, providing inclusive and patient support
  • Can offer both 1:1 and general classroom assistance
  • Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Is flexible, positive, and adaptable across different school settings
  • Can drive (preferably) and is happy to travel to local schools

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
