Job description

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Didsbury Primary School

Teaching Personnel is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Didsbury, which is currently seeking a passionate and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team as soon as possible.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant ready to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, working closely with class teachers to deliver engaging lessons and ensure every child reaches their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and delivery of lessons across the primary curriculum.
  • Lead small group interventions and, where appropriate, whole-class sessions.
  • Assist in assessing pupil progress and adapting support accordingly.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Essential Requirements:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent (Level 4 or above).
  • Proven experience in a primary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • A nurturing, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting children.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and equal opportunities.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including autism, dyslexia, or speech and language difficulties.
  • Familiarity with educational technology to enhance learning.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to meeting the diverse needs of pupils.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
