1:1 Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support
Location: Clitheroe, Lancashire
Start Date: November 2025
Contract: Until the end of the academic year (July 2026)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs at our welcoming mainstream secondary school in Clitheroe.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a young person’s educational journey by offering tailored support, encouragement, and consistency throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the pupil to support engagement, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.
- Provide tailored academic and pastoral support under the guidance of teaching staff and the SENCO.
- Promote independence, resilience, and confidence both in and outside the classroom.
- Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working with young people with SEMH or additional needs (school or youth work experience desirable).
- Be patient, empathetic, and resilient.
- Show strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be committed to helping every student achieve their full potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
