About the Setting

This specialist academy supports children and young people aged 10 to 17 with a range of SEN and ASD needs. About the Role

We are seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team on a full-time basis. You will support pupils with communication needs, sensory differences, social challenges and learning barriers, helping them access education and build independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for learners with SEN and ASD

  • Implement behaviour regulation and emotional support strategies

  • Assist teachers in delivering structured, differentiated learning activities

  • Help maintain a calm, safe and positive classroom environment

  • Promote communication, confidence and life skills development

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to meet individual needs


Essential Experience

Applicants must have:

  • At least 6 months childcare experience, ideally supporting children with SEN

  • A patient, empathetic approach and strong behaviour-support skills

  • A commitment to helping vulnerable learners succeed

Safeguarding

All roles require an enhanced DBS check and full safeguarding clearance. Applicants must be committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
