Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are seeking a resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our school for children between the ages of 5-16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Our school provides a nurturing environment where pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, build trusting relationships, and thrive both academically and emotionally.
What You’ll Be Doing:

Providing one-to-one and small-group support to children with a range of mental health and behavioural needs

Helping pupils regulate emotions, build coping strategies, and develop positive routines
-
Working closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to deliver personalised learning
-
Creating a calm, safe and structured environment that supports pupils’ wellbeing
-
Encouraging independence, resilience, and positive social interaction

A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

The ability to remain calm in challenging situations

A genuine passion for supporting children with SEMH needs

Experience in a school or mental-health setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
