We're currently working with an Ofsted Outstanding Primary school which caters to students with complex special needs and disability.
The School follow an adapted curriculum which is aimed at developing sensory deprivations, social and communication skills, life skills and functional abilities. All staff, including Teachers, Support Staff and Occupational therapists all have a shared ethos of keeping the students best interests at heart.
The Head is looking to take on a Teaching Assistant until the end of the school year, someone who has an understanding of special needs such as Autism, and a caring personality. A successful Teaching Assistant should be genuinely invested in the development of children and will work to provide a safe, secure and non judgemental environment in which students can thrive.
The Responsibilities of your role as Teaching Assistant can vary and are not limited to the following;
- Assisting the Teacher with delivery of lesson, classroom organisation and support creating resources
- Supporting students on 1:1 of general basis
- Support occupational therapy sessions
- Supervision at breaks and preparing snacks
- Keeping reports and logging in student diaries
You will also have responsibilities as follows;
- Personal Care
- Moving and Handling
- Administering Medication
Applicants must be able to demonstrate experience, training or knowledge that is relevant to the above responsibilities.
Ideally you will have worked in a capacity supporting children previously.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately, but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.
The school require on and off support throughout the year depending on student intake and staffing needs, so there is always opportunity for contract extension and permanent roles for staff who are a great asset to the school.
