Job description

We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at a specialist SEMH provision. Our school supports pupils who have experienced significant barriers to learning, often rooted in trauma, adverse childhood experiences, or mental health challenges.

About the Role:

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis in and out of the classroom.

  • Build trusting relationships with children, helping them feel safe and valued.

  • Work closely with class teachers, therapists, and external professionals.

  • Use de-escalation strategies and consistent routines to support emotional regulation.

  • Encourage pupil voice and celebrate progress – no matter how small.

What We're Looking For:

  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach.

  • Experience of working with children with SEMH needs.

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice or a willingness to learn.

  • Flexibility, teamwork, and a sense of humour!

  • Relevant qualifications (desirable but not essential – training can be provided).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
