Level 2 Teaching Assistant – Full Time (SEN Focus)

Location: Blackpool
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role

A thriving secondary school in Blackpool is looking to appoint a committed and skilled Level 2 Teaching Assistant with strong Special Educational Needs (SEN) experience. This full-time role involves supporting students across KS3 and KS4 who require additional help to access the curriculum, manage behaviour, and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support for students with a range of SEN needs, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties.
  • Assist subject teachers in delivering accessible and engaging lessons across a variety of subjects.
  • Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour strategies, and personalised learning goals.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive environment that promotes engagement and independence.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, the SENCO, and pastoral teams to track progress and implement interventions.
  • Encourage positive learning habits and help students build confidence both academically and socially.

Requirements

  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Strong SEN experience, ideally within a secondary school environment.
  • Confidence working with young people aged 11–16.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Resilience, patience, and a calm, supportive approach.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
