Teacher of English
Full time, Temp to Perm contract
Suitable for NQT's/MPS Teachers
The school based in the Portsmouth area of Hampshire is looking for recruit a Teacher of English for September 2019. The ideal candidate will be able to display dynamism and determination. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team who truly aim to make a difference, not only to student life chances and successes, but also developing young people who can contribute to society with kindness and confidence.
The English department is a well resourced one, which encouraged students to become independent learners who are responsible and confident. The department offers a personalised curriculum allowing them to meet these standards. All students work towards Cambridge IGCSE qualifications in English Language and English Literature. To encourage reading for pleasure a Reading Room has been created in the department. This room is equipped with a wide range of books, sofa and bean bags to create a comfortable and relaxed reading environment. The school has also bought into the Accelerated Reader Programme which is designed to motivate students of all ages and abilities to read more suitable challenging books.
The school has an excellent track record of continuous improvement in GCSE results with last summer setting a record for the school. Excellence is at the forefront of everything the school aims to achieve and they are interested in meeting prospectus colleagues who share the same vision. All staff are encouraged to play an active role in the schools wider community which may involve:
- Running extra curricular clubs
- Devising new and innovative ways of taking learning outside of the classroom
- Organising school trips to ensure a broach and rich curriculum
- Contributing towards the school charitable fundraising activities
- Organise events that encourage students to continue with their education beyond the school gate
