TA, Downs Syndrome support, Peckham
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
Teaching Personnel are excited to present this excellent opportunity for a SEN teaching assistant to join a friendly supportive primary school in Peckham, right by Peckham Rye station. Having now fully assessed their staffing needs this partner primary school have identified the requirement for an additional member of staff to support a pupil with Down's syndrome in year 3.
The child is keen to learn and enjoys being at school. Your main responsibilities will be to ensure the child stays on task and to minimise potential distractions. The child has a keen interest in literature and sports but struggles more with numeracy.
The school is a member of a federation of primary and secondary academies in and around London and was graded Ofsted 'Good' in their most recent inspection. Being part of the federation's Teaching School Alliance enables them to provide excellent training and development opportunities for potential teachers and leaders and so this would be the ideal role for a candidate interested in progressing into teaching.
As part of the position you will become a member of an incredibly supportive team where you will be able to learn a lot regardless of your current level of experience. The school community shares a strong moral belief that children must come first and the leadership team ensures the quality of teaching is consistently high.
The school is proud of their wide range of backgrounds, abilities, faiths and cultures. They believe their success lies in their drive to ensure every pupil can take pride in their skills, abilities and talents. The school works hard to ensure children have a bright, safe, secure and happy place to learn. By working together with children, parents, carers, staff and the wider community they believe they can encourage pupils to show respect, take responsibility and show resilience as they grow with the school.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- To be passionate about education and committed to making a difference to the lives of young people
- Experience or substantial knowledge of working with SEN
- Experience working with young people, ideally in a school environment
- A desire to train as a teacher in the future (desirable)
They are looking to fill this position ASAP so if you are interested then make sure you apply today.
