We are currently recruiting dedicated Support Workers to join a residential children’s home in Accrington, supporting pupils aged 8–16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a nurturing and structured environment where your role directly impacts the development, stability, and success of vulnerable young people.
Role Overview:
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital part in creating a safe, supportive, and homely environment for the young residents. Working closely with a team of experienced carers and professionals, you will provide consistent emotional and practical support on a 1 day on / 2 day off shift pattern, including both day and night shifts.
Key Responsibilities:

Build positive, trusting relationships with children aged 8–16

Support young people with SEMH in their daily routines, activities, and development

Help manage challenging behaviours with patience and consistency

Support with educational, social, and recreational activities

Promote independence, self-esteem, and life skills

Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning

Ensure safeguarding and safety protocols are followed at all times

Work as part of a close-knit, supportive team
What We’re Looking For

Experience with children or young people (professional or personal) is desirable but not essential

A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach

Willingness to work a flexible shift pattern (1 day on / 2 days off, including days or nights)

Commitment to completing all required training (provided)

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to remain professional and caring in challenging situations

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
